Shubenacadie
Deep in the heart od Nova Scotia, Shubenacadie is known for having the world’s highest tides and has several river running companies where visitors can enjoy riding the waves of the Shubenacadie with Shubenacadie River Adventure Tours and Shubenacadie Tidal Bore River Rafting.
For the wildlife enthusiasts there is the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park which houses exotic animals (33 kinds of mammals and 65 kinds of birds) native to North America and is open all year round. This park is especially famous due to Shubenacadie Sam predicting the arrival of Groundhog Day every year.
If you enjoy the antiquities in life, a little museum called Tin Smith Shop will definitely meet your fancy. This quaint place dates back to the early 1890s features The Hardware Store, The Smith Shop as well as a craft shop and gift store, with additional exhibits to indulge in.
Shubenacadie has a range of parks to enjoy. One of them is the Stewiacke River Park where one can relax and enjoy the large open spaces and picnic. There are also facilities where one can fish, canoe and swim. Oakfield Park also caters for larger picnic groups and has a beach and boat launch facilities. Laurie Provincial Park offers fire grills, firewood a beach and several hiking trails. It also offers camping facilities. For the adrenalin junkie, Atlantic Motor sport Park is the place to be. It accommodates motorbikes and cars on an 11-turn circuit.
