Peggys Cove, Indian Harbour
One of Nova Scotia’s loveliest and picturesque destinations is the small and quaint fishing village known as Peggy’s Cove. Located between Indian Harbour and West Dover, Peggy’s Cove is 50km away from the municipality of Halifax and perched on the eastern side of St. Margaret’s Bay. St. Margaret’s Bay is famous for its dramatic and elegant scenery, and Peggy’s Cove epitomises this sentiment in a big way.
As it is home to just 50 people, Peggy’s Cove is intimate and private, blessed with a mouth-wateringly scintillating aesthetic appeal that is really accentuated during the summer months. The jagged rocks that starkly jut out along the coastline makes for a superlative setting, while the cove’s narrow channel entrance is reportedly not for the faint-hearted. Peggy’s Cove is said to be one of the most photographed fishing villages in the world due to its dazzling unspoilt landscape and rich fertile surroundings; the village was awarded with the prestigious Triple A Award handed out by the American Photographers’ Association. Receiving a Triple A designation means that a photographer will always take a great photo of Peggy’s Cove regardless of the time of day, the conditions of the place, or even the brightness and clarity when taking the shot!
The Peggy Cove Lighthouse is one of the main attractions here with many romantic fables told about this particular landmark while the harbour is another sought-after location. With its multi-coloured wharves and boats, grey fishing sheds, and bright markers and floats, the harbour further adds to the vibrancy of this tiny fishing village, making Peggy’s Cove one of the more remarkable destinations found anywhere in Nova Scotia.
