View The Athabasca Falls
Canada has become a top-rated destination amongst travellers over the last few years. With its remote location, high quality of life and picturesque scenery, this North American country is popular with people from all over the world as it promises to take you away from the madness associated with modern-day life – here you are promised relaxation and tranquility. The Canadian Rocky Mountains therefore promises even more opportunity to witness nature in all her splendid glory; white-capped peaks, stunning glaciers and abundant wildlife are distinctive features of this region, while the clean air and sincere hospitality add to the dynamic atmosphere present. Popular activities include skiing, boating, daytrips throughout the area including ferry rides, whale watching and many other incredible activities. One of the main attractions here is the amazing and opulent Athabasca Falls. Situated in Jasper National Park, the Falls are only 23m high, but it is not famous for its height, but rather for the force of falling water because of the quantity of flowing water. The headwater comes 70km south from Columbia Glacier and flows into the Athabasca River, which thunders through a narrow gorge carrying with it sand and rock. This is a great place to take the family to while you re-connect with nature. There is parking and picnic facilities available and what a way to spend the day with the majestic Rockies as your backdrop! During the winter months, there is a track-set cross-country skiing trail nearby and in summer, activities such as white-water rafting are a popular excursion. The photo experiences are unbelievable and avid photographers will find this a haven to enjoy their craft. There are many paved walking trails around, with a foot journey being the perfect way to experience the beauty of Athabasca Falls.
