The headwater comes 70km south from Columbia Glacier and flows into the Athabasca River, which thunders through a narrow gorge carrying with it sand and rock. This is a great place to take the family to while you re-connect with nature. There is parking and picnic facilities available and what a way to spend the day with the majestic Rockies as your backdrop!

During the winter months, there is a track-set cross-country skiing trail nearby and in summer, activities such as white-water rafting are a popular excursion. There are many paved walking trails around, with a foot journey being the perfect way to experience the beauty of Athabasca Falls.
