Hike Up The Spectacular Johnston Canyon

The Rocky Mountains in Canada has long been held in high esteem among travellers as a top destination to visit. With its wide variety of wild life, plant variations and incredible collection of glaciers and the like, the Canadian Rockies have been recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site thanks to its remarkable geological formations and stunning beauty. The mountainous terrain is imposing and holds guests captive for hours throughout their stay. A drive through the scenic Bow Valley Parkway and located half an hour from Banff and west of Lake Louise is the remote, but incredible Johnston Canyon. This roadside attraction is home to Johnston Canyon Resort – one of the more popular holiday resorts in Canada – and a picturesque walking trail situated alongside a canyon.

This path is truly magnificent, as it boasts no less than seven beautiful waterfalls, making it the ideal backdrop for hiking, photography and other outdoor adventures. Visitors will be treated to a vast array of wildlife on display including elk while the trail continues on to Ink Pots, which is a majestic open forest meadow. Johnston Canyon Resort is home to many activities to keep everyone in the family entertained; these include swimming, horseback riding, picnicking, biking, canoeing and short scenic hikes. Other attractions in this region include Columbia Icefields or neighbouring parks Jasper, Yoho and Kootenay. In case the weather takes a turn for the worst, the town of Banff, near to Johnston Canyon, has museums, indoor pool halls and other entertainment outlets to ensure you stay busy and happy throughout your trip. Johnston Canyon is a great place to visit and its warm hospitality and panoramic scenery has made it an iconic destination within the Canadian Rockies.
